In the last few years MAN has specialized successfully in the transport and power engineering segments. MAN concentrates its competence and competitive strength to meet the requirements of its customers with tailored solutions, especially those for reducing emissions and fuel consumption.
Structure of the MAN Group
Commercial Vehicles
MAN is one of the leading commercial-vehicle providers in the international motor-vehicle industry and offers customer-oriented products and services throughout the world. MAN Truck & Bus is expanding from its core market – Western Europe – into the growth markets in Eastern Europe and Asia. As the market leader in Brazil MAN Latin America has an extensive sales and service network at its disposal in the vibrant markets of Latin America. With these two companies the MAN Group has the competence to cater for both premium markets and emerging countries successfully with the appropriate products. The holding in Sinotruk, the Chinese market leader in heavy trucks, is also enabling the Group to build up a lasting presence in China, the world's largest market for commercial vehicles.
Power Engineering
Power Engineering is the second strategic business area of MAN and provides a judicious counterweight to the commercial-vehicle business. MAN Diesel & Turbo is the world's leading provider of large diesel engines for use in ships and power stations and also specializes in the development and production of compressors, gas turbines and steam turbines. Merging the two companies has enabled MAN to offer its customers product packages, e.g. turnkey DCC power plants (Diesel Combined Cycle = combined diesel turbine power plant) or waste heat recovery systems for maritime applications.
This business area is rounded off by RENK, a globally acknowledged producer of high-quality special gearing.
