Dr. René Umlauft (47) studied mechanical engineering and factory planning at the Technical University of Dresden. He began his professional career in 1991, joining Siemens AG's Energy Production Division. From 1996 onwards, Dr. Umlauft was initially deputy manager, and then manager of the gas turbines service centre.
In 2000, he took over as head of global order management. Two years later, Dr. Umlauft became head of the Turbosets division and the Products sector in the Power Generation unit.
In 2008 he became CEO of Siemens’ Renewable Energy division, which he headed until he joined MAN.
Dr. René Umlauft has been CEO at MAN Diesel & Turbo SE since September 1, 2011, as well as Deputy Member of the Executive Board of MAN SE.
